CCTV Fire…
Some video I took the other night, it was amazing and terrifying… I really do hope that they at least semi-ban fireworks next year ;p As I left the courtyard on Monday night to go home, one of the neighbors set off a firework right in front of my (and didn’t warn me that I was walking right towards it!) and the thing exploded in my face. There’s just no concept that people are dealing with *explosives* in the “about-to-blow-off-your-hand” sense of the term. /rant
Either way, this was a big loss (symbolically) for people in Beijing. At least there were few human casualties involved. The Boot’s always been the ugly stepbrother of the far cooler Pants, but now its definitely gotten a lot of attention. I’m curious how they’re going to rebuild…

i’ve been watching news about this roll in on a few arch blogs. very famous architect to us, thus a famous building. it’s shocking to see it go!
