Elyse’s (off?) Broadway Stage Debut (as a translator)

(photo thanks to Laurie Brown of TownSquare)

Despite the extreme jet lag coupled with a busy afternoon chatting with President Clinton (he likes the spelling of my name, thanks Mom!) I was buzzed and looking forward to the evening’s performance at New World Stages with Peter Buffett. It helped that Laurie had taken me over to the nearby Starbucks for some much-need coffee and… I discovered that Starbucks in America now has oatmeal (!!!). True, oatmeal might not make the normal girl go gaga, but then again, who ever said that I was normal?

Anyhoo, feeling pleasantly oatmealed and coffee-content, I changed into my signature qipao and warmed up for the show with Michael and Peter. And yes, I did force them to do the Cheeky Monkey warmup with me (though at least I didn’t make them do the numbers in Chinese!). The show went incredibly smoothly, despite some rather direct questions from the audience (which Peter deftly responded to in an amusing but honest way). The show was part of the Huatuo US tour, and produced by my friend’s company Town Square Productions, check out their blog post here: TSP produces Peter Buffett’s Concert & Conversation in NYC. Ok, enough blogging for me, I want to go out and enjoy NYC!
