Olgilvy sponsored Blogger Meetup…

Went to a really great event tonight at the Bookworm, but of course, all of the events there are good ;) Thomas Crampton gave a presentation about social media’s role in the Obama campaign followed by some really great discussions by some Chinese social media heroes / bloggers / weibo-ers.

Most interesting was a girl who wrote and published her first novel, 给爱情加点盐 (Take Love and Add a Little Salt) based a lot on blog followers suggestions / discussions. It was great to attend a lecture in Mandarin, its sad to realize how little Mandarin I am exposed to on a daily basis even though I live in China. So much of my work involves English and Expats…

It was great to get more Chinese bloggers attending one of these events, as they tend to be very Expat-oriented, but it looks like this and future events like this will be more even-keeled. I’m looking forward to the next one already :)

Yet again it was made very clear to me how little Twitter meant in China, and how very big Sina’s Weibo 微薄 has gotten… and so of course, I’ve had to get an account (not that I’ve posted much). Check it out here: http://t.sina.com.cn/1664320964
