Here’s a video of my Mandarin play, “Green Eyes on Chinese” that Cheeky Monkey Theater produced last year (2009) at Penghao Theater. I’m working on writing an English version of the play, since its about *learning* Chinese, it would be better if it were accessible to people who were still in the learning process (ie: beginners and intermediates). Its my hope to work with some American Universities and bring this show to the US and make it accessible to more students. Encouragement through laughter, right?

《绿眼睛识黑汉字》

主要演员：
柳素英：自2003年就生活在北京并已经与北京相恋的美国姑娘。她热爱舞台艺术，主演过《我爱北京》（“I Heart Beijing”）、《风险英语》等话剧，在一些电视、电影中也经常能看到她的身影。

花凌云：《绿眼睛识黑汉字》中以潜意识身份出现的舞蹈演员，自幼学习舞蹈，肢体语言生动，有极强的舞台感染力。

内容介绍：
柳素英扮演的角色是一个在痛苦的中文考试就要到来的前夜几乎崩溃了的留学生。她复习过程中对中文的理解和想象引发了一系列笑话，观众很容易参与到她的思考中来。音乐和舞台背景随情节的变化而不断改变，舞蹈演员用或优美或滑稽的舞姿表现舞台上正在发展的剧情和气氛。最后故事的主人公和舞者相遇、对话、起舞，让大家看到主人公“痛并快乐着”的汉语学习状态。

此剧2008年11月在愚公移山首演受到了很大关注。首演之后剧组人员在原剧的基础上进行了再创作，因此在蓬蒿剧场上演的《绿眼睛识黑汉字》更加精彩。
